2014 Camaro Z/28 Impressive at Nurburgring

One of the most highly anticipated cars of the year, the 2014 Camaro Z/28, recently spent some time on one of the most recognizable tracks in the world – the Nurburgring. Even though the weather conditions weren’t the best, the Z/28 finished the 12.9 mile lap in very respectable 7:37:47 – faster than many other sports cars, including the Camaro ZL1.

The 2014 Camaro Z/28 brings the return of the iconic Z/28 nameplate. With a powerful 7.0L V6 engine pumping out 505 horsepower, what is not to love?

The Camaro Z/28 also sports “a reengineering and weight saving program that stiffens its chassis, strips it of heavy sound deadening material, uses thinner glass on the rear window, puts air conditioning on the options list and eliminates all but one speaker for the audio system” according to Fox News.

If you are as excited for the Camaro Z/28 as we are, stop in today at Huber Automotive and talk with our staff about its upcoming release, and take a look at some of the Camaro’s we have in stock.

New Chevy Malibu is Like No Malibu You’ve Seen Before

Chevrolet’s all-new Malibu will have an array of changes for the 2014 model year; one of the biggest being a new safety driven feature employed through Chevy’s MyLink. The feature is overtly named Text-to-Voice and will be available for all smart phone users and Siri for Apple iPhone users.

The 2014 Chevy Malibu

Text-to-Voice will enable MyLink to read incoming text messages and then convert them to speech. Drivers then have the hands-free capability to send back automated responses such as, “I’m driving; I will text you later.” The automated responses can be pre-recorded with any message you wish to send when the vehicle is in park.

In hopes to eliminate handheld texting and driving, Chevrolet and the Text-to-Voice feature grants users a way to respond to their peers, while making it much safer for drivers and their passengers with the hands-free capability.

The Text-to-Voice feature is only one of the changes the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu employs. Chevrolet Global Chief Marketing Officer Tim Mahoney stated, “The new and enhanced features make the 2014 Malibu a smarter choice, putting it at the heart of the strongest Chevrolet passenger car lineup in our history.”

Stop in today at Huber Automotive in Omaha, Nebraska and take a look at the beautiful new Malibu, as well as the rest of our complete line of Chevrolet’s and Cadillacs.

2014 Silverado Black Ops Key for Survival Against Walking Dead

With the highly-anticipated premiere of the fourth season of The Walking Dead on the horizon, the designers at form seem keyed in on capitalizing on the zombie apocalypse preparedness trend. The unveiling of the 2014 Silverado Black Ops concept reveals a heavy-duty pickup capable of keeping you and your plucky and perpetually-bickering group of survivors one step (or shuffle) ahead of the undead.

2014 Chevy Silverado

Chevrolet’s design manager Dave Ross called the 2014 Silverado Black Ops concept “a survival kit on four wheels.” Black Ops is based on the Silverado Crew Cab 4×4, which means its equipped with an all-new EcoTec3 5.3L V8, a max towing capacity of 12,000 pounds, and forward collision alert (in case any stray walkers should find their way into your path).

What’s more, the Silverado Black Ops concept comes with custom body armor and a lockable, bed-mounted Truck Vault storage unit, which holds a solar power pack, First Aid Kit, and…yes, Tennessee…even Twinkies.

And unlike so many depictions of the post-apocalypse, there’s nothing dirty or dusty about the Silverado Black Ops…at least fresh off the lot. The interior features custom-trimmed black seats with yellow piping to accommodate a yellow trim motif all throughout (immediately makes us think of biohazard stickers) and comes standard with MyLink touchscreen integration.

The Black Ops’ triple-sealed doors inlaid over the body side improve aerodynamics, make for a quieter ride, and reduce the likelihood that a rotten hand is going to yank someone out of the cabin unexpectedly. For those looking to improve their survivability score, study up and get the right wheels—the fuel efficient Silverado makes an ideal choice. If you have any useful tips regarding anti-zombie technology or surviving a world ruled by the living dead, leave us a comment or stop in and see us at Huber Automotive—believe us, we won’t think it’s weird at all. With the Black Ops’ Silverado, we’ll be ready for a zombie takeover, will you?

Chevrolet is the Leader in Safety with Seven Vehicles Receiving a 5-Star Safety Rating

It is well known that vehicle safety is an extremely important factor that goes into purchasing a vehicle. The best looking vehicle on the market would have a tough time selling if it was deemed to be unsafe. Luckily for consumers, Chevrolet’s are not only stylish and packed with features, but also the safest vehicles on the road according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Seven Chevrolet’s received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the NHTSA for safety – more than any other brand and more than Ford and Toyota Combined.

The seven Chevrolet’s that received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score are the Sonic, Cruze, Volt, Impala, Traverse, Camaro Coupe, and Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. The Sonic is the first ever subcompact car to receive a 5-Star Overall Score.

“We design safety and crashworthiness into our vehicles very early in development,” said Gay Kent, GM’s general director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness. “We are committed to offering advanced safety technologies on a broad range of models, not just on the most expensive vehicles. All of our vehicles are designed to provide continuous protection for customers before, during and after a crash.”

Nebraska Chevy Dealer to Auction Legendary Collection

We’re all seen old, rusty cars covered with overgrown weeds and trees. Now imagine, clearing away a field of trees and finding nearly 500 classic Chevrolet cars from the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s! That’s exactly what happened in nearby Pierce County, Nebraska.Chevrolet Camaro

Ray Lambrecht was the Chevrolet dealer in Pierce for 50 years and during that time he amassed his collection. Included among the 500 cars are about 50 survivor cars. These are cars that were never sold and have fewer than 20 miles on them. These include a 1958 Chevy Cameo with 1.3 miles, a 1977 Vega with 6 miles, and a 1978 Corvette with 4 miles!

Many of these nicer cars were kept indoors and were spared some of the worst of the harsh Nebraska weather. It seems Mr. Lambrecht did not gather this collection accidentally. According to the New York Times, when he was still selling cars, he would not sell his trade-ins. He also kept new car that did not sell when he thought they would become valuable one day—and boy, was he right.

The Lambrecht Collection is set to go up for auction September 28 and 29. But, there is a preview day on the 27, so head on up to Pierce and take a look at some once-in-a-lifetime legendary Chevrolet models.

Will the Next Big Corvette be a Hybrid?

With hybrid technology becoming ever more popular and gas prices steadily rising, many cars are going the way of hybrids. Hybrid technology can improve not only efficiency, but also performance, and according to GM President Mark Reuss, this technology just might be used on one of the most widely known sports cars around - the Chevrolet Corvette.Chevrolet Corvette “I think it would be really fun to do, I think it would build capability inside our company and I think people would love it,” Reuss said. A few years ago anyone who would’ve said the Corvette may soon be going the way of hybrid would’ve been laughed at, but with recent hybrid powered supercars from the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, and McLaren, it doesn’t seem so farfetched. The ‘Vette is already one of the most well-known sports cars for its ability to speed past much more expensive cars, but if General Motors were able to improve the engine with hybrid technology it would be a force to be reckoned with. We here at Huber Automotive are just as interested in this story as you are, and look forward to hearing more announcements about upcoming Chevrolet’s! Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest times of the year, and whether you’re heading an hour or two for a cookout or even farther for a mini-vacation, we want you to stay safe.Happy Labor Day

  1. 1. Be Prepared: To insure that your vehicle is ready to handle the roads, be sure to check your tires, wipers, fluids, brakes, and oil. Also, in case of an emergency it is important to have a kit prepared to keep in the trunk. A first aid kit, bottled water, a flashlight, jumper cables, and a small toolkit.
  2. 2. Plan Ahead: : Preparing items such as a GPS or map, could not only save you time, but also keep you safe. Also, check the local news and radio stations to make sure the road you plan to travel on isn’t backed up due to construction or an accident.
  3. 3. Leave Early: It is much better to be early than late, but also much safer. Fast, reckless driving could lead to accidents or road rage – not to mention speeding tickets are no fun.
  4. 4. Designate a Driver: We know, you hear it all the time, but it’s very important and could mean the difference between making it home safely or spending a night in jail – or worse.

If you need help preparing your vehicle, stop in and visit our service department! Have fun out there this weekend, but more importantly STAY SAFE!
